Habitat mapping & wildlife survey

During the summer of 2007 the ranger will be undertaking a
habitat survey of the island.  This will involve walking over
much of the land and assigning each area to a particular
habitat category, for example wet heath, dry heath, improved
Grassland etc.  Along the way we will be photographing
different plants and areas of the landscape to create a
colourful record of the islands flora in 2007.

In addition to looking at the islands plant life we will also be
undertaking a number of other activities to record some
of the island’s animal life over the same period.  These include,
moth trapping, pond dipping and rock pooling.
